Food Angels America exists to provide nutritious after-school take-home meals to children facing food insecurity in the Tampa Bay area. We are committed to ensuring that children have access to wholesome, minimally processed food that supports their health, focus, and development beyond the school day.

 

By addressing the gap between school-based nutrition programs and home access to food, we aim to strengthen child well-being and contribute to healthier Florida communities.

Food insecurity remains a persistent issue in the Tampa Bay area. Recent data indicate that nearly 13% of residents experience food insecurity, with child-specific rates often higher—in some estimates, around 17–19% in counties like Pinellas and Hillsborough. Statewide in Florida, more than 800,000 children face inconsistent access to nutritious food, contributing to impacts on academic performance, physical health, and family dynamics. Many existing resources provide filling but processed options; Food Angels America responds by focusing on minimally processed, high-nutrition meals tailored to growing children’s needs. Founded in 2024, in response to observed gaps in local after school nutrition support, Food Angels America has grown from community-driven efforts into a targeted program serving families across the region. Our guiding values include:
